I love haul blog posts, so figured I would do one of my most recent trip to the neighborhood health food store. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I always walk away with a new tid-bit of nutritional knowledge.
1. not nuts! Beach Bash Seed and Fruit Mix by Enjoy Life - I love this mix and it contains sunflower seeds, which are a great source of Vitamin E (important antioxidant to preserve egg quality). They also so happen to be wheat and soy free.
2. Blue Diamond Honey Cinnamon Nut Thins - This is the first time I have purchased these, but sampled them in the store. Holy Yum. Almonds are also a great source of Vitamin E, and these are also wheat and soy free.
3. Brazil Nuts - Great source of selenium another antioxidant that protects you and your eggs from free radicals. Free radicals can cause chromosomal damage. One nut contains 100% of the RDA of selenium.
4. NOW Foods 8 Billion Acidophilus and Bifidus - My probiotic of choice. I love NOW brand vitamins, the ease of only taking 1 pill and the price.
5. Carlson Super Daily D3 2000 IU Liquid Drops - I needed D3 and they were sold out of my usual D3, so I picked up this liquid D3 by Carlson. Carlson is a family business, and I have heard nothing but great things about the integrity of their products.
6. Life Extension Optimized Folate - Through my never ending research I discovered folate > folic acid. Folic acid is the synthetic version of folate and not everyone metabolizes folic acid as they would folate. I picked this one up because it has the dosage I needed and was the brand recommended by the sales associate. I am not going to reinvent the wheel but here is a great blog if you are interested in learning more about folic acid vs folate.
7. Garden of Life Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal - My prenatal of choice for many reasons including the fact that it is food based, contains a small amount of probiotics, folate rather than folic acid and was not listed in the top 10 prenatals containing lead. YIKES.
8. Nordic Naturals Omega 3-s - This supplement fulfilled my EPA/DHA requirement of 1,000 mg and artificial color/flavor free. Nordic Naturals is an awesome brand that actually uses 3rd party testing on all of their supplements and also choose their fish according to super strict international standards for purity and freshness. I have used their DHA supplement in the past, and was impressed with its lack of fishy flavor.
9. Bragg Nutritional Yeast Seasoning - I have been up in the air about purchasing nutritional yeast seasoning, but decided to give it a try due to its chromium content which is supposed to be excellent for lowering cholesterol and improving insulin resistance.
**Not pictured Enjoy Life Plentil Chips & GT's Enlightened Kombucha Multi-Green which were consumed on my way home.
